Don't let hay fever spoil your summer!

Hayfever is an allergic condition affecting the mucus membranes of the eyes, nose and airways in people who are sensitive to allergens such as pollen and grasses. It is possible to reduce your symptoms by trying the following homeopathic remedies:

Allium cepa - try this remedy where there is a lot of sneezing, a sore, runny nose and itchy runny eyes. Symptoms seem to be worse from the smell of flowers.

Euphrasia - is a useful remedy when there are difficulties, which centre around the eyes, such as burning, itching, and watering (but making the eyes sore and red). The symptoms are worse for being in a warm room or sunlight but better in the fresh air.

You could also try one of the combinations of remedies made by Nelsons, such as Pollena, which is available from health food shops.

As inherited factors can play a part in this condition more deep acting professional homeopathic treatment is best, so ensuring a long term solution.

Travel Tips

There are several things which you can do to relieve some of the symptoms of travel sickness, such as eating ginger. Fresh ginger is the most effective but any form will help.

Also wearing acupressure wristbands, which are widely available, have been found to be helpful.

Homeopathic remedies can also help to combat any form of motion sickness (this includes sea, air or car). Please call for more information.

Summer eating and BBQ's

Once the weather starts to warm up out come those BBQ's which can be one of summer's pleasures. Unfortunately however it can also mean upset stomachs.

To reduce your chances of being ill, always check that all food is cooked all the way through, and is piping hot.

If you do suffer from sickness or diarrhoea there are homeopathic remedies, which can alleviate your symptoms, call Michele on 01473 311666 for more advice and information.

Thyme and again...

Thyme and again... Thyme is a valuable garden herb, which would have been found in many country gardens a few years ago. As well as flavouring foods such as pork and poultry it also has other less well known uses - as a natural antiseptic, to boost the immune system and relieve cold symptoms. The best way to use thyme is to infuse the leaves in hot water, strain and drink when cool.

It can even be used as a mosquito repellent, as while bees love the thyme flowers, mosquitoes really do not like the pungent aroma of the plants leaves.

Improve your memory

If you want to sharpen up your memory try eating foods rich in antioxidants such as spinach, or celery. Also include red or purple foods like blueberries, strawberries or beetroot.

Another tip is to get out the daily crossword and exercise your brain in a different way regularly.

It really is "use it or lose it!"
